One day I wanna be like Mimi

Image
Because… Even though she LOVES to sleep, she will gladly wake up when a little person calls her name to join them on a golf cart ride She will make eggs, then pancakes, cut a banana, and when he says no to all that, she will make a trip to McDonalds. A cookie can be turned into a snack She can pull together one FABULOUS party She gives and gives and gives of her time! She will give up the comfort of her own home to stay and help us! She folds clothes, unloads the dishwasher, cleans up after dinner and organizes the toys! She is full of decorating ideas She’s not afraid to eat lunch with a sticker on her head She lets her favorite little person destroy her living room. She makes sure she is in town to see her grandsons last 60 minute swim lesson She doesn’t mind her house being taken over by a two year old and 3 month old. She will make frog-eyed salad, even though everyone else requested strawberry cake She lets little people be as messy as they can be She makes toast in the shape of w

Wyatt's 23 months

It’s hard for me to think that in one month I will have a two year old. Where does the time go? I feel like over the last couple weeks Wyatt has really changed! Sleep: 7:45 pm until 6:00/6:30am. Nap 12-3 or 1-3/4. He will take great naps! Normally they last anywhere from 2-3.5 hours. I love it!! Vocabulary: It has really taken off. He is saying more and more two and three word sentences…. “I see baby?” “I get you.” “water, swim” “help mommy” He is into everything and ALL boy! His new interest, is jumping! He will jump off just about anything. It scares the living day lights out of Todd and I! I love watching him grow. He really is getting so big! He has also learned to swim! Well, he is starting to learn how to swim. He took 8 lessons and can now jump in and swim a pretty long distance underwater! He loves the water.

Let's put it all out there...

I've thought about this over and over again and as much as I HATE what I'm about to share, I've come to realize we all have to start somewhere. July 19 2011 170 July 27 2011 165 - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Visit to Connor's

Image
Two weeks ago we decided it was time to visit our friends in LaGrange, GA. It was all lined up... breakfast, swim lesson, quick nap, load up in airplane and fly to see them. 40 minutes as opposed to 3 hours. At the very last minute, we were unable to fly and our plans changed. The car was loaded up and we started our very long 3 hour ride. The first hour was great. McKinley slept, Wyatt watched his movie and the entire car was nice and quiet. Then came trouble, the next two hours were spent playing beat the clock (trying to beat traffic in ATL), two feeding stops, headphone assistance, crying, paci assistance, snacks, food throwing, sit kicking, toy throwing, and then there was the screaming! Oh the screaming! When we finally got there we were both ready to pull our hair out, McKinley desperately wanted to eat and Wyatt, well we don't really know what he wanted. He was just happy to get out of the car and play. That night we had a wonderful dinner after getting 4 out of 5 kids to s

Swim Lessons

Wyatt took 8 lessons and is now a FISH! The boy can jump in and swim to you without help. It was worth the $100!!!

My favorite time of night

Call me crazy but I Love nursing McKinley in the middle of the night! She has had 12 hour nights, 10 hour nights and then she goes back to 7 hours stretches! Oddly enough, I'm okay with a 2:30 feeding. I love the sweet little smile that greets me when I lift her out of the crib, the way she nurses half asleep, the fact that it's her best nursing session all day, I love my quiet time with her, and I love watching her drift back asleep so effortlessly. It's only a brief 20 minutes that we share, but it's our 20 minutes! Just the two of us! I wonder if she knows that? Maybe that's her favorite time too! I'm sure the day will cone when I want her to go back to sleeping 12 hours but for now I'm soaking up every last minute!

Perfect moment

It's 8:06pm, she feel asleep in my arms finishing the bottle daddy started at 7:30. I have lifted her to my chest, little head tucked under my chin, her tiny butt in the air, she is out! I should; unload dishwasher, put clothes in dryer, fold clothes, clean up the house, the list is really endless! However, I CAN'T put her down! I can't stop kissing her sweet little head or stroking the back of her neck. I know how fast these moments go bye and I can't help but wonder if I'll recognize the last. So for now, I'm going to hold her, kiss her and rock her! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

McKinley Three Months

Our sweet baby girl is three months old.... *Sleep: We have a great sleeper (except when it comes to naps- it’s a hit or miss)- She will go to sleep around 7:30/8 and sleep 10 or more hours. Then wake to eat and go back to sleep until 8 or so. Naps are a different story. She pretty much just sleeps when she is tired and there isn’t much of a schedule yet. We are trying but not worrying about it to much yet. You like to be held and rocked to sleep and at night you will go down right after your bottle. *FINALLY will take a pacifier 90% of the time. Before now it was pretty much 50/50 on if she would take it. Now she loves it. *Nurses about every 2 hours but can go longer if she is sleeping or we give her a pacifier. Typical day: 8:00am: up for the day. Wyatt comes in and helps me wake her up. Get her dressed and nurse her 9:00am: nap 10:30am: up from nap and nurse 11:30/12:00: nap- if she is in her car seat- this is normally a 3-hour nap. 3:00pm: nurse 4:30/6pm: nurse and then nap- at ho

A Day in Life

It has been almost three months since we have welcomed McKinley into our family and I have to admit we still don’t have it all figured out! Our day looks a little like this… 6:00am: Wyatt is standing at the end of his crib calling for us to come and get him. If we are lucky, he is sitting playing until 6:20 or so. 6:15am: Daddy puts Wyatt into bed with us and we watch Special Agent Oso or Little Einstein’s while mommy and daddy try to wake up. 6:30-7:15am: Mommy and daddy try to get ready while Wyatt watches a little TV on the bed, goes through ‘his drawer’ in the bathroom, goes through the laundry basket, drags out hangers, and just makes a HUGE mess in the bedroom. On most days by 7 he is hanging on my legs, begging me to come sit with him. I am lucky if I come out looking half way decent. 7:30am: breakfast for Wyatt. Very picky these days so you never know if he is going to eat or not. 7:45/8am: McKinley is up and ready to EAT! The past three days she has made it 12 hours at night s

12 hours!!

McKinley's Sunday night.... 5:45-6:10: cat nap on the way home from birthday party 6:15: nursed on one side 10 minutes 6:30-7: activity time with daddy and Wyatt 7:00: nurse on other side for 10 minutes 7:15: bath, pjs 7:30: 2 oz bottle 7:40: fast asleep Monday morning: woke up at 7:45!!!

22 months

Yup our baby boy is 22 months! WOW! He is so close to being TWO! There are some really cute/sweet things that Wyatt is doing right now and some things that aren't so cute. -I have a new name: "mommy!" he says it in the cutest way and it just melts my heart. It is the sweetest thing that I have ever heard. I really love it when he crawls in bed and gets really close to me and says, "mommy, wake?" He tries to also open my eyes if I have them closed. -SLEEP: still waking up super early (by my standards!) there are some days he wakes up at 5:20! I DO NOT like starting our days this early. We are working on this! Currently we are aiming for an earlier bedtime and a calmer routine with a snack right before bed. -EATING: well, he has become a little bit of a picky eater. Tonight Todd sat with him for 30 minutes going back and forth trying to get him to eat. Todd finally gave up. He also doesn't enjoy milk as much as he used to. I am not sure what to do about this.
