Day 2 in Rome
Today was a packed day! After an early morning wake up, a yummy omelet, and a crazy cab ride, we arrived for our 3 (which turned out to be closer to 4) hour private tour of the Vatican. WOW! You would need a week to see and really take in everything and we were only there 4 hours. Some of the highlights....
1. St. Peter's Basicalla- I was blown away my this! Beautiful and overwhelming.
2. Sistine Chapel- another great piece of artwork.
3. The Raphael Rooms- four rooms in the Palace of the Vatican, hold beautiful frescoes painted by Raphael.
4. Roman sculptures, tombstones, the gallery of maps and so many other things, that I honestly can't remember.
At a point I really started to get overwhelmed and HOT! It was very stuffy and because of the strict dress code I was wearing a long dress and sweater over it and there were alot of people in one small room. Our guide was wonderful and he clearly loved what he did and knew so much about all the artwork and history. It is truly amazing here. This city has so much history!
After the Vatican we took a cab to the trevi fountain and then ate some lunch. My pasta was the best dish on the table! Sometimes you don't get what you think your going to get. After walking for a litte bit I was worn out and wanting a nap but we decided on a hop on and off bus instead to see the whole city. Guess what, I fell asleep and so did Todd! It was a great nap. I really am still feeling tired and just out of sorts and really missing my babies. My mom sent a video of their graduation today, Wyatt was singing a song and I just started to cry. How could I miss this? No, he wasn't graduating, it was his last day of school but I was missing the sweet program and it made me sad. This time change has made it hard to talk to Wyatt and McKinley.
For dinner, the dessert was the best part! We are planning on working out at 7:30 to make up for all the bad stuff we ate today! Tomorrow we board our ship and head out for our 10 day cruise.
