The City that never sleeps....
I love New York City! I love it for about...5 days! The constant honking, the smell of cigarettes mixed with exhaust fumes, the endless lines in every store you go in, the lights, hailing a cab, riding the subway, broadway shows, PIZZA, hotdog stands, the shopping, I love it all, the good and the bad. I love the fact that you can walk all around the city, your feet will hurt by the end of the day but you can do it! On on block you can find, breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and a place to shop. This being my 5th time in the big city I have learned a couple of valuable things to keep in mind when planning a trip to the big city,
-Wear tennis shoes!!!!! I know that they don't always look the best but trust me, if you plan to walk, which even if you take a subway or taxi you will do, WEAR them! At first you think that you are going to look silly but when you look around, you will find that you fit right in and your feet will thank you later.
-Instead of that really great looking purse, carry a BACKPACK! Not a large one, but a small one. It is the best thing to have when walking around the city.
-(So I think this is right) When the lights are on, the cab is AVAILABLE. (I say I think because in all the times I have been there I still get confused.)
-See a broadway show (or two). This is my absoulte favorite thing to do in NYC and the reason we like to go. My favorites... Wicked, Jersey Boys, South Pacific, The Boy from Oz, I have seen a few others but these are my all time favorites!
-Do the city bus tour! Day and night, it is really fun and a great way to get around the big city!
Here are a couple of things we did this trip....
-Went to the Today show and saw.... Russell Brand, Justin Bieber, and got pooped on by a bird!
-Got some yummy cupcakes at the Magnolia Bakery, same bakery Miranda gets cupcakes from in Sex and the City
-Spotted Ron Jeremy
-Walked around the city
-Did a little shopping
-carriage ride through central park
-Saw Wicked and South Pacific
-Ate at my favorite Italian place, Carmines!
-Found some yummy Gelato
-Ate lots of great pizza
-Did the city bus tour (day and night tour)
We had a great trip to NYC and I am looking forward to going again one day soon!
