She claimed this chair and would NOT let anyone sit with her.
Highlights: Montana 09/01/2012- 09/07/2012

*A brand new ear infection for McKinley

*Benadryl for the little sweet peas runny nose (side effect is sleep- what do ya know?)

*After a quiet ride to Atlanta-they were wired and no one wanted to sleep- this resulted in all four members of the Barnes family sleeping in one king size bed!

*1 large duffle bag, 2 medium roll bags, 1 tiny super hero roll bag, small Vera Bradley backpack, 2 Britax car seats, one black bag for one of the car seats, oh and 2 small kids.

*SECURITY! Need I say more!

*Boarding with the “families who may need attendance.” – with two kids ready for a nap.

*Taking up an entire row- plus the isle seat on the other side.

*Portable DVD player- that lasted the entire 4-hour flight.

*McKinley’s 4-hour nap on the 4-hour plan ride!

*The look on Wyatt’s face and on Mimi’s face when they notice each other through the glass window. 2 weeks is far to long.

*The weather=glorious! I am so ready for fall!

*An hour and a half ride to the cabin- again, thankful for the DVD player and the ipad.

* HORSES! Wyatt is in love with these two horses.

*No cell phone coverage, no Internet, and no television. It was great.

*A store, 10 minutes away, with extremely slow Internet, but still Internet.

*A store 10 minutes away with a cute little restaurant. That only serves what they want to serve. It was great.

*Staying in your comfy clothes and not wearing makeup.

*A weekly trip into town and trying to get EVERYTHING done and EVERYTHING you need on your list.

*Kids waking you up at 4 am because its time to wake up at home!

*Kids finally learning to sleep until 7am! Yes, that’s 9 am Georgia time, and it was great on the way home!

*Riding out into the open.

*A farmers market with great weather.

*Watching Wyatt turn into a true cowboy.

*Going to bed at 8pm- yes it was marvelous.

*Waking up to 30-degree weather and then having to play inside until 10am, when it was 75!

*Your two toddlers wanting to play outside ALL DAY LONG! Normally Wyatt says, “it’s to hot!” He loved it!

*FAMILY TIME! With no work distractions!

*Two runny noses- we think that sometime was blooming but come to find out that Todd and I both had bronchitis and didn’t know it, so who knows. The entire Barnes family was coughing!

*An hour and half drive- much on a dirt road- to town, a quick burger, two fussy kids- then on the way to the airport.

*2 hours with both kids awake on the plane- went OK.

*A 40 minute connection- a bunch of crap to carry-hungry kids- wet diaper-in need of milk- last to get on plane- wet through diaper-got Todd wet-extra diapers in carry on, which is stored above our head- everyone looking- screaming baby that doesn’t want to go to sleep- man behind us that wants baby to go to sleep-40 minutes into flight- SLEEP!

*Wyatt not having a nap on the way home. The entire day! He passed out while playing on mommy’s ipad at the hotel.

*Getting back to the hotel at 11pm! At least they slept in until 9 am the next morning.

*Two time clocks that remained on late mornings for the following week! Loved every minute of that.

We had a wonderful time with my parents in Montana. The were actually really good on both plane rides, coming and going. Wyatt really enjoyed the horses and playing outside and M just loves spending time with her daddy. Some of my best childhood memories are from the time spend in Montana, and I want my kids to have the same experience. I love seeing Wyatt’s imagination come out and McKinley light up when she gets to just run around outside. It really is an amazing place!
