Trip to Hawaii
As I write this it’s 25 degrees in Evans, Georgia and currently 71 here at our hotel in Kanapali (as I am posting it though, due to my lack in computer time the past couple of days, I am now feeling the 50 degree weather and wishing I were in Kanapali!). Do I want to go home in two days, home to frost on the windows and a chance of icy roads? Am I ready to trade in my flip-flops and one-piece (yep it will be a one-piece for a while, thanks to Wyatt and a lovely c-section that left my belly looking a little funny!) for uggs and comfy hooded fleece? The answer, if you don’t know by now is NO!!! A big fat NO!! I love waking up at 7 but not having to pull myself out of bed until 8 (thanks to Todd who has been taking Wyatt in the morning), I am going to miss sleeping through the night and not worrying about if Wyatt will wake up (thanks to Nancy and Morgan who were kind enough to put the crib in there room and got up with him-thanks to the time change he hasn’t been sleeping like he normally does), I will miss having time to myself (thanks to a combined effort), I will miss seeing the whales on our morning walks, and I will really miss spending every day with Todd. So NO I am not ready to come home, but since money has yet to grow on trees, we must return to the real world. Where I wake up at 7, ME time is only when I get little man to sleep, meals have to be prepared, laundry has to be done, Todd has to go to work, I have to go to school, life goes back to normal! I do love my everyday life though!
Okay, enough of me whining! I need to tell you a little about our trip to Hawaii. It’s easier for me to break it down like this…..
December 30th (night of) and the 31st -Oh WHAT A NIGHT….. (yep and its late December)… In the last post I bragged a little to much about Wyatt and how well he adapted to the 5-hour time change. I say to much because on the 30th, he did not sleep well. The little man was up at 2, 3, 3:30 for diaper change, Todd then had to rock him for thirty minutes, he slept until 5:30, then until 6 and then he landed in our bed until 7! The reason this is not a good night for us is because since he was 3 months old he had been sleeping through the night (8:30 until 7) only needing pacifier assistance on occasion. So four times is NOT good! The day however, turned out to be better…. We had a great day by the pool in the cabana! Nancy and Morgan were kind enough to rent us a cabana each day we were by the pool, providing us some much needed shade for Wyatt. On this day however, we were very lucky and got a very (we’ll call it) swank cabana, fan, television, ipod docking station, couch, chairs, frig, it was crazy! I have never seen anything like it. If you don’t know me, I am known as CASPER to family and close friends. I love the shade! I am not a sun soaker or tanning bed layer, I am a shade loven lady. I require a large sunhat, sunglasses, application of SPF 55 at least 20 minutes before going into sun (more people should read the labels) and of course to top it all off I need shade. So this was heaven to me! Turns out a little more than we needed though! That night Nancy and Morgan took Wyatt up to the room after dinner and Todd and I had a nice glass of wine by the pool and celebrated New Years together. It was a great day!
I will post more about the trip tonight. It’s all ready to go but I quick read through is in order and I just don’t have time for that right now. Looks like you will have to come back!
