HR challenge

I've heard it and read it over and over again, spin classes burn ALOT of calories. I've seen heart rate monitors for friends read that they have burned 1,000 calories! I don't lie! So, I strapped on my heart rate monitor and wanted to see what I could burn. In a 40 class (I had to leave early) I burned around 250 calories! WHAT! I can do that with a 25 minute run. I was not pleased. The next class I really gave it my all, I did everything the instructor did and didn't back down, I look... 244 calories! Okay, now I'm a little upset. Today I challenged myself. I was determined to burn 300 calories. So I kept a good eye on my watch and kept my HR up. I found that following the class wasn't enough, I had to add tension and really turn it up. I had to keep my HR up and that was my goal. Not gonna lie, it was hard. Totally worth it though because at the end of the class.....

365 calories burned! Tomorrow my goal is 400!

I don't care how many diet pills, diet books and quick fixes are out there, there is only one thing to remember when you are trying to loose weight, you have to burn more calories than you take in! I highly recommend investing in a heart rate monitor to make the most of your workouts. I love knowing when I need to kick it up some or tone it down a little.
